Who We Are

The Camp Norwesca Site Council is a dedicated group of volunteers who provide leadership, guidance, and support for the camp’s mission. As part of the Great Plains United Methodist Camps, Inc., the Site Council plays a vital role in ensuring the camp remains a place where children, youth, and adults can grow in faith, leadership, and community.

Our Mission

The Site Council works to create a safe, welcoming, and spiritually enriching environment where campers and retreat guests can unplug, renew, and develop life skills through intentional programming and faith-based experiences.

Roles & Responsibilities

The Site Council is responsible for providing strategic direction and ensuring the success of Camp Norwesca through the following key areas:

1. Leadership & Governance

• Help guide the camp’s long-term vision and goals

• Provide governance and oversight in partnership with the Great Plains UMC Camps Board

• Ensure that the camp operates in alignment with its mission and values

2. Financial & Fundraising Support

• Help secure funding through donations, grants, and sponsorships

• Actively participate in annual fundraising campaigns and special events

• Advocate for the camp’s financial sustainability and encourage community support

3. Program & Ministry Development

• Support the growth and improvement of summer camp and retreat programs

• Ensure programming aligns with faith-based values and camp traditions

• Assist in developing new opportunities for campers and retreat guests

4. Facilities & Operations

• Help oversee the maintenance and improvement of camp facilities

• Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all campers and guests

• Provide input on capital projects and site improvements

5. Advocacy & Outreach

• Act as ambassadors for Camp Norwesca in churches and communities

• Help with marketing, social media, and outreach efforts

• Encourage youth, families, and churches to participate in camp programs

Expectations of Site Council Members

• Attend regular Site Council meetings (at least 6 times per year)

• Serve on at least one committee (Fundraising, Marketing, Facilities, etc.)

• Support Camp Norwesca through time, talent, and financial contributions

• Advocate for camp by engaging churches and community members

• Participate in camp events and volunteer opportunities
